Hello Fellow Republicans:
I am looking forward to seeing each and every one of you at the Maryland GOP Convention this weekend. In preparation, I want to ask you to join the Grassroots and Civic work we are doing, plus share key information about the RNC Rules issue.
At the same time, I must say “hats off” to our Republican legislators who held the line in this past cataclysmic legislative session. In these troubling times, we are honored to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with those who are fighting the good fight. And, stand together we must.
Mobilizing the Grassroots
To focus on future positive gains for the GOP, we need to lay the groundwork now. This fundamental premise is why we started the Grassroots Committee chaired by Faith Loudon, and the Civic Committee chaired by Tony Campbell. Please join us on Saturday morning to see our first round of plans for building a foundation, and how you can specifically get involved:
Saturday, April 20th at the MDGOP Convention:
Hunt Valley Crowne Plaza Hotel
2004 Greenspring Drive
Lutherville-Timonium, MD 21093
Register at www.mdgop.org/convention.
• 9 am: Civic Committee Meeting. Our first goal is to start welcoming our newest Citizens, and we would like you to join us in being that first positive impression.
• 10 am: Grassroots Committee Meeting & Official Voter Registration Training. Please sign-up for a slot here: http://bit.ly/Z0TaMd In addition to official training, we will unveil our Voter Registration plans and Super Saturday schedule for 2013.
Please add these times to your Convention agenda, and get ready to volunteer!
The Era of Rules: Empowering the Grassroots
When Rush Limbaugh is talking about RNC Rules on the radio, we know something is afloat. Please know I am humbled by the support many of you have shown me regarding wanting me to serve as Maryland’s representative to the RNC’s Standing Committee on Rules. As I shared at the RNC’s Winter Meeting, my guiding principle in working on RNC Rules is to restore the basic premise of our Party that we are a bottom up Party – founded, formed, and functioning through the grassroots. This is how the Party made it back to the top in electing President Ronald Reagan, and it is precisely how the GOP will make it to the top again.
As a result of the 2012 Tampa Convention, membership on the RNC’s Standing Committee on Rules has become a hot button issue for grassroots activists. Now that a state can change their representative to this committee at any time, our grassroots should feel empowered not only in Maryland, but also across all states and territories. We have an election for MDGOP Chairman on Saturday, and again for most Party leadership positions in the Fall of 2014. There are constant opportunities to get involved and directly affect change – so take heart! Our time will come.
As it happens, Maryland is simply the first test case for the important issue of how each state’s Rules representative will be handled in this new era. But, it is important for each person to do their own research and develop their own principled stance. To that end, I am attaching copies of the 2008 RNC Rules and the 2012 RNC Rules. Additionally, I’m attaching a letter from 60 nationally recognized conservative leaders who together voiced their concerns on the Rules issue.
At the most recent RNC Spring Meeting, significant improvement was made with the unanimous passage of new language for Rule 16(a)2, which affects how a state elects delegates to a convention. However, there is much work to be done. A significant proposal from the Leadership Institute’s President and Virginia National Committeeman Morton Blackwell to restore power to grassroots, failed by ONLY 2 votes in the RNC Rules Committee (with a vote of 25 Yeas to 28 Nays). The good news is that this is a matter of “WHEN not IF.” At each meeting we are making incremental progress, and hearing more each time from the backbone of our Party – the Grassroots.
As one of your three Maryland representatives to the RNC, I am looking forward to working within the National Committee as it continues to tackle this crucial issue now and well into the future.
Let’s make 2013 a year of fully empowering the grassroots, both in Maryland and nationally!
Standing with you,

Nicolee Ambrose

Dear Maryland GOP Leaders,
I humbly ask for your support and your vote for National Committeewoman. It is time to embrace a fresh, new way of doing business for the Maryland GOP.
I’ve spent the past 14 years toiling in the trenches alongside you, and I pledge to continue this work as your National Committeewoman. We must create a true two party system in Maryland, but it will not be easy to get there. Other states have gone from blue to RED, but it took vision, hard work, smarts, and an unshakable will. I pledge to bring my full national network, fundraising and credibility building experiences, along with my unwavering belief that we must be a grassroots up Party to our shared Maryland Republican Party.
I’ve traveled the state speaking about how we need to work together to make Maryland more RED! Here is the GROWTH strategy to accomplish our shared goals:
G Grow the Farm Team
R Raise Money
O Organize Grassroots
W Work the National Network
T Train the Activists
H Hone the Message
Beyond the specific plans I’ve shared with you in my platform, it is all for naught unless we are a Party of principle. I pledge to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with you in fighting the good fight against taxes, government overreach, corruption, and the myriad of other Democrat disasters that are regularly foisted upon the people of Maryland.
Please join me in this effort and I would be honored to have your support. Now, let’s roll up our sleeves and get started!
Sincerely,

Nicolee Ambrose
Candidate for Maryland National Committeewoman
Your Feedback: MD GOP Survey
Thank you Maryland GOP Leaders for your overwhelming responses to the survey I sent out in March, “What Do You Think?” about the Maryland GOP. This gave me another excellent opportunity to interact and listen to many Party/grassroots leaders throughout our Free Line State. Your top priority was growing the grassroots, and this is one of the key areas I intend to emphasize as your next National Committeewoman.

At this exact moment in time, the MD GOP survey revealed a closer contest amongst our current priorities with “Grassroots Activism” coming in 1st, “Recruiting & Supporting Candidates” in 2nd Place, and “Improving Finances” another key concern in 3rd Place.
I’ll suggest that these goals are inextricably linked, and I look forward to working with you to provide value so we can be more successful in each of these areas.
Just as I focused on providing results, building credibility, and fundraising as Chairman of a national political organization, I will bring these skills and this proven record of success to Maryland as your next National Committeewoman.

The Political Divide: MDGOP Convention & Why We Support Nicolee Ambrose
Posted on April 24, 2012 at 4:19 pm
This weekend in Solomon’s Island, the Maryland Republican Party (MDGOP) will host it’s annual Spring Convention. More than 300 central committee members, party officials, and political junkies will descend on the Holiday Inn Convention Center for what’s sure to be a convention that will not soon be forgotten.
Why? Besides the fact that there are many things to discuss from pertinent changes to the bylaws to the election of delegates to the RNC convention, there is what has become a very contentious race for RNC National Committeewoman.
Late last year, the current National Committeewoman, Joyce Tehres, announced that she was resigning her longtime post leaving an open seat. Many just assumed that whoever Joyce and Louise Pope, the current National Committeeman, chose to succeed her would be a shoe in for election.
However, that was not the case. One woman decided to step up to the plate, making waves throughout the state. When Nicolee Ambrose, the impetus for Young Republicans in Maryland, announced she was running, I was immediately on board, even before her contender, Audrey Scott, announced that she had been annointed by Joyce herself to fill the open seat.
I think it’s important to understand why I support Nicolee. It’s not just because she’s a friend, which she is. Or because she puts forth a vibrant, fresh platform that challenges the establishment, which she does. Or because she has the ability to raise money and bring in national connections. No, it goes deeper than that for me.
When I got involved in local politics three years ago, it became clear to me that there was a growing divide in the party between what we’ll call the establishment and those that were more focused on a ground swell of grassroots activism.
We all know that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting the same results. The view from the top of the party seems to lay more in the ideology of “wait your turn.” They desperately want to draw in a younger crowd, while keeping them out of key positions in party leadership.
Honestly, this is why Purple Elephant Poltics exists, and I believe will continue to grow amongst younger conservatives over the next couple of election cycles.
Nicolee is a role model to me, a strong woman with even stronger convictions, a clear vision, and an overwhelming desire to see our state party rise from the ashes and move forward. She’s optimistic when the rest of the establishment seems to posess more of a doomsday mentality, not exactly the impression you wat to exude nationally.
If you’re a Central Committee member in Maryland, I urge you to at least consider a vote for Nicolee. And if you’ll be in Solomon’s Island this weekend, well, I look forward to seeing you there.
Tonight on PEP Talk, we’ll be talking about some of these very issues within the Republican Party. I urge you to listen in, follow us on Facebook & Twitter, and join the conversation.

“Nicolee Ambrose has my full support in the race for National Committeewoman for Maryland. Nicolee will bring a new fresh energy and prospective to Maryland Republicans and will fight hard to make Maryland a two party state. Nicolee is committed to helping me win re-election in the newly gerrymandered 6th District and I know that as our committeewoman she will fight tirelessly to ensure we retain the 6th District and pick up seats across the state. Nicolee is uniquely qualified for the role of National Committeewoman and I hope you will join me in supporting her.”

Welcome! I believe it is time for Maryland’s Republican Party to turn the page, and to embrace a new way of doing business. Thus, I would like to ask for your support of my candidacy for Republican National Committeewoman for the great state of Maryland.
A Republican renaissance is underway at the local level in Maryland. As National Committeewoman, I will work diligently to build that confidence and sense of momentum that results in Election Day wins for Republicans. I would like to spend my time on behalf of the MD GOP between building a farm team of quality candidates, supporting local parties, aiding in communications efforts, and developing new sources of funding to advance our shared goals and ideals. I’ve done this before, and I would like to apply this expertise to building a winning Republican Party in Maryland.
In my past, I’ve spent my political upbringing growing up in Maryland politics and the national Young Republicans, an organization mirrored on the Republican National Committee. I appreciated and grew from that experience because I learned that with skills and ability, one can move mountains in Washington, DC – very quickly. But, what I loved about that experience is the constant reminder that all politics is local. Truly what makes America great is our grassroots, and how a good team of passionate, well-organized people fighting for a just cause, can change the political landscape of their community, and sometimes even the highest levels of our government.
I would like to take my party building experience at the local, state, and national levels and apply it to building a truly competitive two-party system here in Maryland.
To that end, I pledge to be a very hands-on National Committeewoman. The position carries with it a lot of previously untapped potential. I believe that the person who holds it can serve as a liaison between the state party and the national party organization. The National Committeewoman should also deliver value to local central committees in the areas of fundraising, speaker recruitment, and relationship development among party leaders in Washington.
Please join me in this effort and I would be honored to have your support. Now, let’s roll up our sleeves and get started!
Sincerely,

Nicolee Ambrose
