Greetings, Maryland Republicans!
Spring is approaching and we have countless ways to change the political landscape this election year. I wanted to write today to share details about our Spring Super Saturday schedule, invite you to our next Grassroots Meeting (including walk list training), and share how we can all fight the “Bathroom Bill” – SB 212. Also, we have a very exciting GOP Gubernatorial Debate at Johns Hopkins on April 10th, which will be moderated by Richard Sher of Square Off.
I. Spring 2014 Super Saturday Schedule
Bring yourself, your family and friends to campaign in key swing districts this spring. Let’s focus on the issues and keep reminding our fellow Marylanders about the Rain Tax, the Gas Tax, our $261 million in wasted taxpayer monies on a failed Maryland insurance exchange, etc. Please mark your calendars for at least one of these dates:
April 12th: Prince George’s at 10 am
May 3rd: Worcester County at 1 pm
June 21st: Montgomery County at 1 pm
For consideration to have your own county’s Super Saturday on the Fall schedule, applications are due 7/1. Please contact Faith Loudon, Ella Ennis, or me if you would like an application.
II. Grassroots Meeting & Walk List Training
Here’s your chance to come to a Grassroots Committee meeting in the evening! For the first hour have some pizza, while we share best practices and work on the plan for victory this year. Then, get the latest state-of-the-art training in creating your own county’s walk lists. (Ideally every county should have 5 people who can produce walk lists!) Here are the details:
What: Grassroots Meeting + Walk List Training
When: Wednesday, March 19th
Time: 5:30 pm for Grassroots; 7 pm for Walk List Training
Where: MD GOP HQ in Annapolis (69 Franklin Street)
RSVP: Please email Ella Ennis to RSVP so we can order enough pizza!
III. Fight against the Bathroom Bill – SB 212
We are accustomed to illogical legislation coming out of Annapolis, but the Democrats have outdone themselves this year. Senate Bill 212, also known as the “Bathroom Bill” has the unintended consequence of encouraging predators to lurk in bathrooms. All common sense has truly been lost. We expect government to provide basic public safety functions – not legislate away our safety and security.
We have just a few weeks to amp up the volume and fight this bill. Please make your voice heard to your legislators and share with your networks. If you go to www.MDPetitions.com, the site is set-up for you to contact all of your legislators in less than one minute of effort. Make your voice heard against this nonsensical legislation.
IV. April 10th GOP Gubernatorial Debate with Richard Sher
Please join us for debate hosted by the Johns Hopkins’ College Republicans, with Square Off’s Richard Sher moderating! The flyer is attached below. Reserve your ticket now at http://mdgopdebate.eventbrite.com.
I look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail!
